turning 5 and 38

On April 20th, Hadley and Harper turned 5! And I turned 38. It's kind of hard to believe that they are 5 but its even harder for me to believe that I am 38! I think I feel 25 and many days still think that I am 25.  The girls and I spent the day doing some of our favorite things! They got to skip school and spend a girls day with Aunt Moe! 

We started with opening gifts

and it was a new Lilly dress!

After we opened gifts we headed to my favorite place, Denkers, to get an orangeade.

As we were walking down the street with our orangeades we were photographed for the local paper!

We shopped some more downtown and met Jennifer for lunch for a "Ladies Birthday Lunch!"

Since it was our birthday we got chocolate cake for dessert! 

After lunch we were full so we headed home. Hadley and I snuggled and took selfies!

While we snuggled, Jennifer made my birthday cake. It was a Lemon Curd cake. It is my absolute favorite!

We ended the day with a special meal of the birthday girls favorite foods! It was such a sweet and special day. I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to spend the day with those girls!

I love these girls so much! I think its kind of neat that we share a birthday! I tell them all the time that they were the best birthday gift I have ever received!

I have been sad thinking that they are turning five and will be starting Kindergarten in the fall. But I am excited to see them learn to read and go through school. Watching Hadley and Harper grow up is a special treat and gift!

American Girl 5th Birthday party

Happy Girls!

Last Friday Hadley and Harper celebrated their 5th birthday with a party at the American Girl store in Charlotte. They got to have lunch with their Bitty Babies and friends and several adults! The girls really like playing with their babies so this seemed to be a perfect fit for a party. The birthday girls were beyond excited about the party!

I am so thankful that I got to celebrate another birthday party with the twins. I am going back to visit for our actual birthday! I still can't believe that they are turning 5!

a walk down memory lane - twins turn two!

Today I'm looking back and remembering the girls second birthday party. When the girls were two they loved Elmo. So they decided they needed to have an Elmo party. I think this was one of my favorite parties! Jennifer held this party at her neighborhood park. 

The girls loved to swing at this age. 

Elmo was everywhere!

a walk down memory lane - twins turn one!

April is birthday month! It's my birthday and the twins birthday! This Friday we will be celebrating the girls 5th birthday with a party at the American Girl store! I thought it would be fun to walk down memory lane and look at the girls birthday parties!

Their first birthday party had a Peter Rabbit theme. Jennifer always has a theme and puts a lot of time and effort into planning.

They each got a small cake for the typical smashing and eating of baby's first sugar! 

It didn't take them long to figure out what to do.

cupcakes and birthdays ~ Hadley and Harper turn 4

Hadley and Harper's 4th birthday party was at a local cupcake shop. Jennifer always does a great job planning the girl's birthday and sticking to a theme. I always enjoy helping her with the little details. The theme for this party was cupcakes and a little bit of a bakers theme.

I love the Little Lilly shift dresses the girls are wearing. They are from last summer and they are called Pop. The perfect party dress. 

Each girl got a chef's hat and apron to wear for the party.

Jennifer also arranged for a face painter to come and paint faces.

Each child got 2 cupcakes to decorate with pink icing. They also decorated pink bakery boxes to take their cupcakes home in.

I think the girls had a good time putting the icing on the cupcakes!

Jennifer and I made the aprons for the girls to wear. Here is the step by step pictures.

 We do not sew so we made these aprons using hot glue! We cut the fabric in strips and then used the glue gun to glue them on the apron. I would put a little glue down then fold the fabric onto the glue.

 After we put down the three ruffles we topped it off with some wide ribbon.

We made 10 different aprons. I think they turned out pretty darn cute!

I am thankful that I was able to be part of the special day for the girls. Hadley and Harper loved having all their friends together for the party.
