Summer 2021

School started this past week so summer break has come to an end. Summer 2021 was busy! I think I tried to make up for the summer of 2020.

The girls got a new puppy this summer! Meet Mable the Bernedoodle.

We hung out with my brother and his dog, Finley, at the lake. My dad loves visiting the lake on his birthday and Father's Day.

We went to a wedding of a dear friend.

It was a fun summer!

Port St Joe - June 2021

A week after school was out Mom and I traveled down to Port St Joe, Florida to rest, recharge, and relax. Hadley and Harper (plus their mom and dad) joined us for our week long adventure!

My uncle and aunt have a home in Port St Joe and we have been wanting to visit their new home and the area. We called it an adventure because it was a new place to visit. Port St Joe is a small town and on the gulf side of Florida. I was looking forward to the white sand and clear water. What I didn't plan on was being sunburned the first day and having to explore more of the town than the beaches!

Our first day we traveled to Mexico Beach. We didn't have a plan but just found a place to park and enjoyed to white sand and warm water.

Later that night we enjoyed dinner in Port St Joe and walked out to the bay.

One evening I wanted ice cream so the girls and I rode into town and found Shoobie's.

We ate at a restaurant called The View on Old 98 that was one of our favorites. The view was so pretty and we had a good time with the girls!

Our last day we drove to Salinas beach and spent the day there.

The beach was not crowded and we practically had it to ourselves.

I had a good time exploring a new area and relaxing. It is always fun to spend time with my best friends. I can't wait to visit again. I just hate that it is a 10 hour drive from the mountains of North Carolina to the Gulf of Mexico.

The Most Magical Place on Earth during Covid

We went to Disney during February in the midst of the Covid pandemic. Disney had lower crowds and masks were required for all areas. We had to wear them for pictures, in lines, and on rides. We could remove them at the resort pools and while we were eating. We did slip our masks down for a few pictures!

Epcot.
They were having their Art festival. It was fun seeing all the art around the park.

The lines for rides were spaced out with these markers. We were six feet away from the other guests. I loved this! I didn't feel super crowded. Lines were longer but moved faster!

To meet characters you stood in front of them for pictures. They still interacted with guest so that was fun.

We loved our trip. The weather was perfect, the crowds were low, and the Disney magic was still there. We did miss the shows, the fireworks, and the hugs from the characters but said this was the best trip to Disney we all had ever had!

Disney 2021

In February I traveled with Hadley, Harper, and Jennifer to Disney for a week long vacation. We had planned on going to Disney in April of 2020 to celebrate the 10th birthday of the girls but Covid had other plans. The parks were shut down and our trip was canceled. We rescheduled this trip three times!

It turned out to be pretty good! We got to stay at my dream Disney resort, The Grand Floridian! We arrived on a Saturday and stayed a week.

We were a little concerned going to Disney during a global pandemic but read a lot about how Disney was protecting their guests during their stay and we decided to go. It was honestly the best Disney trip I have ever been on!

I am going to start my trip down memory lane by recapping my stay at the resort. Aww, The Grand! I have wanted to stay at the GF for as long as I can remember. My travel planner Jennifer knows this and she always quotes the GF for me when she does my preplanning. Of course I have to say no to the GF because  it is just so expensive. When we planned this trip for February we originally picked the Polynesian but the Poly closed for renovations so we got to stay at the Grand for our Poly price! Then Disney did a room discount on top of that and we got the room for a great deal! It was a Disney dream come true!

This is the lobby when we checked in. It is grand and beautiful. They had a piano playing and it was the perfect welcome to our stay. We got our luggage to our room and decided to explore the resort.

We saw this cheetah that was made out of chocolate.

The view from our balcony the next morning. I liked waking up each morning and sitting on the balcony and listening to the music playing.

A few pictures of our room.

A picture of the lobby in the daytime!

One of the things I loved most was being able to see the castle every day and night from the Grand.

I loved our stay at the Grand Floridian. It wasn't overly Disney and was very quiet. I liked how when I got back from the parks I wasn't bombarded with more Disney.

I think the girls enjoyed swimming in February! It felt like we were the only guests at the resort.

One of the best perks of this resort is the monorail! We hopped on and we were at Magic Kingdom in less than five minutes.

After the year of 2020 this trip was welcomed and much needed. Getting to stay at the Grand Floridian was the cherry on top!

The past four years...

I am still Aunt Moe to now 11 year olds!

Recently I was visiting Hadley and Harper and they told me they would look at this blog. Hadley said she would like me to start blogging again. I thought about it and decided to start documenting my memories once again as Aunt Moe, Ms. Chambers, and Mary Moe.

A little break down of the past four years...
  • countless trips to visit the girls
  • visited Boone to watch Appalachian State football games
  • a few trips to the beach
  • taught 1st grade
  • became a Godmother to my Godson Owen
  • moved back to Kindergarten
  • Covid
  • taught remote Kindergarten - 2nd grade
  • traveled to Disney World for a week
  • spent time in Port St Joe, Florida
I am four years older and feel like not much has changed in the last four years except I am four years older! Can't wait to share some fun memories with you!
