graduation

A few weeks ago one of my former students, Taylor, came by my school to give me a graduation invitation. She had written a note in the invitation saying that she remembered me saying (when she was in 4th grade!) I would come to her graduation if I was invited. Taylor also wrote that I was still her favorite teacher! So of course I had to go watch her graduate! I was very honored that she took the time to invite me and very honored that she still says I am her favorite teacher!

Graduation was this past Friday night. I always think it is neat to watch the kids that I taught graduate. Its fun to see how they have grown up!

Taylor and me after graduation. She is such a cutie!

I love being a teacher and knowing that I have touched one life makes it much more rewarding. I wish all my former students the best in life!

Thanks Taylor for inviting me!

Biltmore 5k

This morning I ran the Biltmore Kiwanis 5K at the Biltmore Estate. I was nervous because this was my first race and I didn't really know what to expect. Plus I have been fighting allergies this week so I was not feeling my best.

My friends Katelyn, Michele, and Wendy also ran the 5K.

My race bib and tee

Wendy and me in line before we started.

After we finished!

My goal for the race was to finish in under 35 minutes. My official time was 32:09. So I am very pleased with my time. I was 11th (out of 27) in my age group and 115th (out of 271) overall!

Katelyn, Michele, Me, and Wendy

Katelyn's husband Seth ran with her. They are just too cute!

The weather was okay. It was rainy. We all had wet heads when we finished!

I look forward to our next race! One more step to my Princess Half goal. Now I have to start looking for a 10K to run!

Mother's Day and Ryan's Birthday

I am a little behind...3 days behind on blogging about Mother's Day. We went to church and then we joined my mom's family for lunch. Just a few pictures from the day...

My mom and me. I gave her that scarf for Mother's Day.

My Mamaw Mary. She is so tiny!

I have had so many people tell me that I look and act like my Mamaw Mary!

trying to get her to pose for a picture

 I love a candid picture.

Ryan decided to join us in the picture.

I wish I had some good pictures of my mom, brother, and me but the photographer (my dad) had a hard time working the iPhone!

Overall it was a nice Mother's Day. I think my mom loved having her family together for most of the day.

On Monday, we celebrated again! It was my big brother's birthday.

My Mother

Happy Mother's Day! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful Mom!

Oprah Show 2008

Mother's Day 2011

I am blessed to have a wonderful Mamaw too!

My Mamaw Edna wrote the following poem when she was 16 about her mother. I thought I would share it with you on this Mother's Day!

My Mother

Oh if I could be just like Mother,
To smile when everything goes wrong,
To be kind hearted and help some other,
And always singing a happy song.

What could we do without her?
Our home, oh how lonely and sad
Without Mother's sweet loving chatter.
We would miss nothing so bad.

Without Mother, our home would be
Lonely, dreary, and sad
With no sweet smile to welcome us,
Or a sweet voice to make us glad.

To think of parting with mother
Our hearts would be filled with pain.
For in this world there is no one like her,
But remember we will meet her again.

If we live as mother has taught us
To love and obey God's command,
We will meet our friends and loved ones
And most of all, meet mother again.

I also want to say Happy Mother's Day to my friend Jennifer! She amazes me every day being a mom to those sweet girls.

The Donut Shop

This past weekend Mom and I traveled down to Jennifer's house to celebrate Hadley and Harper's 3rd Birthday! The theme for the party was "Donut Shop."

Jennifer did a great job planning and preparing for the party. She really should be a professional party planner! Jennifer puts so much into the little details. The girls LOVED every minute of the party!

Yummy treats!

Harper in the bounce house. Those girls bounced ALL day!

After a long day of partying and bouncing!

Before I left Sunday, Hadley climbed up in my lap and told me she didn't want me to go. She said you're my best friend! That just melted my heart!  It gets harder and harder to leave when they say sweet things like that!

Pin-Inspired Monogram

I pinned this picture recently on my Pinterest Monogram board.

I have wanted a monogram pullover for a while. It just seems so classic and preppy to me. So when I got my Lilly Pulitzer  pullover I knew it needed a monogram to make it pop!

I think the monogram makes the pullover. I just love my monogram too!

I paired my pullover with my monogrammed shorts. I think it might have been a little over the top!

This outfit was perfect for a day of travel in the car.

Today I am linking up with Sheaffer at Pinterest Told Me To, Shay at Mix and Match Mama, and Mel at The Larson Lingo for their monthly Pin-Inspired challenge.

My outfit wasn't exactly a Pinterest outfit but my monogram board inspires me everyday!
