DisneyWorld - day one

This blog has now become my scrapbook. I used to spend lots of time putting scrapbooks together. I haven't scrapbooked in years! I wish I had started blogging a few years ago! That being said get ready for picture overload with my trip to DisneyWorld with my mom and brother. We did ask my dad to go but he said he never wanted to go back to DisneyWorld. It is not the happiest place on earth  for him!

We flew down on Saturday and went into the Magic Kingdom that afternoon. It was hot. We became sweaty and smelly almost instantly. But I guess that is okay because everyone is in the same boat!

Main Street, USA

In line for the Jungle Cruise.

Another view of the castle.

The castle at night. I could sit and stare at this castle for hours. It just so pretty and magical at night!

All the people trying to leave. This is not my favorite part of Disney - 40,000 people trying to leave at the same time.

My favorite parts of day one -
1. I tried a Dole Whip for the first time. It was good but I don't think I will be craving one anytime soon.
2. Splash Mountain - It is always a fun ride.
3. "Celebrate the Magic" show or as I called it - the castle show.
4. Meeting Ariel. She was so sweet and made a video for those sweet girls, Hadley and Harper!

Dollywood

On Friday we loaded up the cars and traveled to Dollywood.

Harper before we left.

The girls holding hands in the car.

Riding the tram in with Granny Janet.

I was tired so I took a rest in one of the strollers.
It was also National Wear Your Lilly day. (The first day of summer)

Riding some rides

Hadley with some cotton candy. Can you tell that she loved it?

The Dollywood Express

After all the kid rides we had to ride the Wild Eagle. This ride is intense but a lot of fun!

As we were leaving it came a huge storm. The girls hate rain. So we took a snack break waiting for the storm to pass.

I had to say goodbye to my friends that night because I was headed to DisneyWorld the next day. I sure do miss my friends! I'm looking forward to spending another week with them real soon.

Bikes and Biltmore

Jennifer and her family came to visit last week! On Thursday we went over to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville to picnic and ride bikes. We went to Antler Hill on the Estate to have our picnic. They have live music every evening. Once the girls were done eating their food they jumped up and started dancing!

Hadley was the first to go dance.

McKinley and Harper enjoying their "chick chicks" from McDonalds.

The girls were on a roll dancing!

After dinner and dancing, we went and rented bikes to ride around the estate. The girls got to ride in a bike stroller.

On our way to see the castle.

View from the lagoon

My friend Brooke was nice enough to join us so we could all get on the estate. (And pull some girls in the stroller!)

Jennifer and her girls in front of the castle.

Sweet Mckinley and Kim.

Displaying my wonderful biking skills. The bike had such wide handle bars and I felt like a drunk bike rider! I was all over the place. So stay clear of Moe when you are on a bike ride!

Of course we had to enjoy some Biltmore ice cream after all that bike riding.

I thought this was such a relaxing and fun evening. I highly recommend going and riding bikes at Biltmore!

Father's Day

My family had a very relaxing Father's Day. We went to church and then went to see my brother Ryan at the lake.  My dad said he hoped this became a Father's Day tradition.

My dad enjoying a boat ride.

One of the many beautiful views on the boat ride.

I have a fear of deep water so riding a boat sometimes give me great anxiety. I had to wear my life jacket the whole time. I know I look like a dork but it helps calms my nerves!

Ryan and me at dinner.

My parents.

The girls are coming in for a visit this week and then I am off o Disney for a long weekend!

Summertime Fun

I just love spending time with my friends during the summer. Hadley and Harper are talking more and have such fun and neat personalities! They are non-stop from the time they wake up till the time they go back to bed. It's hard for this non kid person! I am so exhausted by 4:00! Hats off to mom's everywhere!

On Friday it was pouring the rain and we went to the Discovery Place Kid's Museum in Rockingham. This place is super cool.  The activities were so fun. The girls had a blast and I did too! I wish I lived closer so I could take my students.

When we got home the rain had stopped so I went for a run. The girls had to go with me. I snapped this picture. I love how they are walking with such determination!

Jennifer and I did manage to slip away Saturday for a spa day.

I had a pedicure while at the spa. My bright, neon toes!

This is what happens when Aunt Moe babysits! Every kids gets an iPad!

Hadley in her Snow White dress! She was posing with her princess hands!

I hope I have many more adventures this summer with these girls!

my morning run

Registration for the Princess Half is next Tuesday! It's about to become real. So I need to step up my game. My goal for the summer is to be able to run at least 7 miles by the end of July. The longest I have ran is 4.55 miles. I think I will do small runs during the week and on weekends do my longer runs.

I'm down east visiting my friend Jennifer and the girls for a week. Jennifer lives in a beautiful neighborhood,  it's on a lake and has lots of hills. I hate hills. Well, I hate running up hills but I do like running down hills!

When I returned from my run, these sweet girls were happy to see me! I was very happy to see them!

Dancing Queens

Last night was Hadley and Harper's dance recital! It was super cute. They tap danced to the Good Ship Lollipop. To say I was excited about this event is an understatement!

McKinley, the girl's cousin, also danced. She did an outstanding job too!

This picture cracks me up!

McKinley and me waiting for the show to start.

I love every minute of the recital. The girls did tap first and then they got to show off their tumbling skills.  They did cartwheels and rolls all over the stage! I wish I had a picture of their smiles. I do believe they loved every second of being on stage! I look forward to many more recitals with these girls.

Its beginning to look like Summer

Jennifer sent me these pictures of the girls this past week. I will be spending a week with them starting tomorrow! I can't wait! They have their very first dance recital on Tuesday night. I have been looking forward to that since I found out Jennifer was having girls!

I hope to spend a lot of time with these girls this summer! Being a school teacher has its perks!

I downloaded an app to my phone so I could add doodles and words to my pictures. This is my cute little Mamaw and me at a birthday party on Sunday.

End of the Road

Last week was the last week of school for the year! It was also the retirement celebration of my dear friend Terre. When I started teaching 13 years ago my teaching neighbor was Terre. She was new to the school like me but had been teaching for years! We were teaching 4th grade at the time. Terre taught me so much about being a teacher those first few years in 4th grade. She had a passion for North Carolina history and teaching! She has taught 2nd grade the past 8 years and I joined her in 2nd grade 3 years ago. I always tell her that you are only as good as the teacher next door and she has helped me look good the past few years! Ha!

Our 2nd grade team - Me, Julie, and Terre
(We made a good team - it will be different without Terre next year!)

Terre and me. (I know the picture is blurry but its the only one I have of the 2 of us from the retirement party!)

I am not sure how I will feel next year when I don't have my sweet friend there with me. She has always been there to listen to me and give me advice - teaching and life! I know that I will probably text her everyday!

Field Trip last year

I am thankful God put Terre in my life! She is so special to me. Words could never say how much she means to me. Thank you for all the memories Terre! I wish you the best retirement ever!
